Return to Sender at FCC University in Lahore
An excellent presentation and screening of Return to Sender: Women of Color in Colonial Postcards & the Politics of Representation at Lahore’s FCC University. I connected my film to work on reforms for women prisoners in colonial India. I focused on The female jails of colonial India by Satadru Sen. The piece mentions prisoners sent to the Andaman Islands (Kala Pani) and obviously I thought of Uzma Aslam Khan’s groundbreaking book, The Miraculous True History of Nomi Ali.
FCC University’s students were brilliant and asked great questions. The organizers were immensely gracious including Professor Vaqas Ali, who put together this event.
